Baby clothes are labelled by age, but age is the least reliable guide to fit. The number you were actually given at discharge — and the one you can check at home — is your baby's weight. This chart maps Zizuka jabla sizes to weight first.

Which jabla size for a 3 kg newborn?
A 3 kg newborn takes 0–3M. Zizuka's smallest jabla size is 0–3M, and it fits from birth — there is no separate newborn size to buy, and no gap to worry about.
Most Indian babies are born between 2.5 kg and 3.5 kg, and all of that range sits comfortably inside 0–3M. A jabla is tied at the side rather than fastened over the body, so it accommodates a small newborn without hanging awkwardly, and it keeps fitting as they fill out.
Why a jabla sizes differently from a onesie
This is the part most size charts miss. A onesie is a fitted garment — it snaps at the crotch, so length and torso measurement decide the fit, and it is outgrown quite suddenly. A jabla is neither fitted nor fastened. It is a loose front-open top that ties at the side.
Three practical consequences:
- A jabla runs longer between sizes. Where a baby might move through a onesie size in six weeks, the same baby often stays in a jabla size noticeably longer.
- The tie adjusts. A slightly large jabla is simply tied a little tighter. A slightly large onesie just sags.
- There is nothing to outgrow at the crotch. Length is the limit, not torso height — which is why weight tracks fit better than age here.
So the usual advice to "size up" applies more strongly to jablas than to fitted babywear. It is very hard to buy a jabla that is too big; it is easy to buy one that is outgrown in a month.
How many of each size should you buy?
Most parents keep six to eight jablas in rotation, allowing for a two-day laundry cycle. The question is how to split that across sizes.
